Introduction

Hi, my name is Forest. I'm a 20 year old college student who has always had a terrible memory and a difficult time concentrating. I discovered the Phenomenal Memory program when as a Senior in high school. The program claimed to be able to teach the ability to memorize any kind of information for as long as you need it. At first I thought it was a definite scam and ignored it. I didn’t have nearly the $300 that was required for the course and there was no way I was going to gamble that much money only to find out that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Still, I was intrigued. I spent a while poking around the Internet looking for information and eventually convinced myself to take the risk. I used most of my graduation money to buy the program.

After signing up I shortly received access to the student area as well as members only sections of the forum. I was relieved to find that it was quite clearly not a scam. The members only forums were full of students asking for help on the course and receiving help from instructors. The student area linked directly to the lessons, and I jumped right into lesson 1. My relief turned into excitement as I started the lesson and realized that I could use the techniques in the Pmemory system to memorize a list of 25 completely unrelated items. Not long after, my excitement turned to frustration as I realized that, though the course was not a scam, it was hard as hell. Single lessons were long and took me forever to complete. The course instructed students to complete a lesson all at once, with a goal of completing each one in less than 2 hours. It took me nearly that long just to finish half the exercises in the first lesson - and that took a giant amount of will power. I made it to about lesson 4 but gave up do to the extreme difficulty level.

It has been nearly 3 years since my initial attempt, and I’m up to try it again. Since my first try I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD. Knowing that I have ADHD has helped me understand my situation a little bit better. For a long time I knew that there was something that set me apart from many of my classmates, but I had associated ADHD with hyperactivity (something I never have had that much of) and it never occurred to me, until my mom brought it up, that I might have Inattentive ADHD. I was later tested for it and my mom’s suspicions were confirmed. That shed a new light on my high school experience and why I found it so difficult to perform well on school work.

The course has also changed since my first try. Back when I signed up, the course only really claimed to address memory issues. Now it claims to address both memory and focus training. The hardest part of completing the course in the first place was staying focused on the challenging exercises. If ones ability to focus improves in the same way that a muscle grows stronger, then successfully completing the Phenomenal Memory class could easily be one of the best workouts for it.

This journal serves a dual purpose. I will document improvements in both my ability to concentrate and memorize information as I complete the course. For me, it will be a motivator to help me finish the course. For anyone reading it, it can serve as a sort of review. Hopefully I can help people who have seen the site and are wondering about the quality of the course make an informed decision on whether or not they want to spend the money on it.

You can visit the pmemory course here

That's all I have for today. Next time I'll dig into the student area and the members only parts of the forum a little bit.
